Statement
Suzanne Horwich, Artist Painter
Creating is a totally consuming, holy experience for me. When I paint, I have a complete disregard for the constraints of time and space. I allow my work to flow through me, exploding onto the canvas. My work is not planned, but instead, completely impulsive, feverish and chaotic-paroxysms of emotion created in the silence of my studio.
I produce work that enables me to communicate, allowing the audience to see my soul in its naked state of everything creative.
My use of bold color and simple abstraction is the outward manifestation of what is inside my soul on any given day.
When I have reached a euphoric state while painting, I know instinctively that the painting is just as it should be. I am fundamentally interested in conveying the messages of freedom, freedom of one’s mind, body and soul in my work. It is the freedom to break down barriers walls, and restraints that I want the audience to see in my art, a celebration of the freedom to be exactly who I am and who the audience is.
It is impossible to pinpoint and explain why I paint and what I paint, because my work is created in so many moments of madness and joy. Instead, I hope the viewer walks away from my work with the sense of their own freedom and a bit of inspiration that applies to their own state of being.
